Chamber Foundation Celebrates Fourth Anniversary of the Massachusetts Apprentice Network and Releases 2025 Impact Report
With more than 800 apprentices hired, the Network is on track to place 1,000 apprentices by the end of 2027
Boston, MA—The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation marks the fourth anniversary of its Massachusetts Apprentice Network with the release of its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting the progress in expanding high-quality apprenticeship opportunities across the Commonwealth.
Launched in 2022 in partnership with Accenture and the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, the Massachusetts Apprentice Network began with six founding employers. Since then, the Network has grown into a robust, statewide collaborative of more than 44 participating members, including employers, training and talent providers, and community-based organizations. Through this statewide effort, the Network is accelerating the adoption of apprenticeships beyond traditional trades and into high-growth industries critical to the region’s economic competitiveness.
“Apprenticeships empower talent and strengthen our economy,” said James E. Rooney, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. “By embracing the apprenticeship model, employers can recruit, train, and retain the skilled workforce they need while unlocking economic mobility for apprentices and their communities. These hands-on, experiential learning opportunities don’t just fill jobs: they set individuals on lifelong career paths and help employers plan for the future.”
Since its launch, the Massachusetts Apprentice Network has supported the hiring of more than 800 apprentices across sectors including healthcare, information technology, cybersecurity, hospitality, financial services, education, and facilities management. Throughout the Network’s history, 91% of apprentices were retained by employers after completing their programs, demonstrating the power of apprenticeships to drive retention and long-term workforce stability.
“Apprenticeships are a proven talent development strategy,” said Amber Haskell, Vice President and Executive Director of the Chamber Foundation. “By following the apprenticeship model, employers get access to a larger, more diverse pool of talent and apprentices build strong connections, earn higher wages, and almost every time, complete their programs with a full-time job.”
“The Massachusetts Apprentice Network is about activating untapped talent and expanding what apprenticeships can be,” said Michael Holland, Director of Workforce Development Strategy at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. “By expanding the apprenticeship model into new sectors, and serving as a clearinghouse of apprenticeship resources and connections, the Massachusetts Apprentice Network is building stronger talent pipelines and opening doors to high-quality careers across the Commonwealth.”
A core principle of the Massachusetts Apprentice Network is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to apprenticeship. The Network works closely with employers to connect them to resources and vetted partners that are aligned to their specific workforce needs, whether they are launching a first-time apprenticeship or scaling an existing model.
This morning, the Chamber Foundation celebrated the network’s success with their 4th Anniversary Celebration. As the Massachusetts Apprentice Network acknowledges its four-year milestone, it remains focused on the long-term goal of placing 1,000 apprentices by the end of 2027, while continuing to expand access to high-quality career pathways for workers and deliver measurable value for employers.
Accenture has been an instrumental partner in the Massachusetts Apprentice Network and continues to champion apprenticeships on a national level. In 2017, Accenture launched the first Apprentice Network in Chicago before expanding to the National Apprentice Network in 2021. Since then, the collective has expanded to 11 regional US networks convening over 200 employers across the country, paving the way for a growing and thriving apprenticeship ecosystem nationwide.
“We’re proud to see the growth and impact of the Massachusetts Apprentice Network,” said Pallavi Verma, Senior Managing Director and Apprenticeship Program Executive Sponsor at Accenture. “Apprenticeships are an effective talent strategy that helps employers build skills where they’re needed most, while creating pathways to high‑growth, sustainable careers. Through structured, earn‑and‑learn experiences that combine training, professional skills development, and on‑the‑job learning, these programs strengthen talent pipelines and prepare people for long‑term success.”
An initiative of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Massachusetts Apprentice Network is made possible through the generous philanthropic support of the Cummings Foundation.
