Essential Competencies for Effective Leadership

The Talent Academy gives you practical, real‑world training designed to help you communicate more clearly, collaborate more effectively, and show up with confidence in today’s fast‑changing workplace. Through self‑paced, employer‑relevant courses, you’ll build the human‑centered skills that strengthen teamwork, productivity, and professionalism.

The Talent Academy is an easy way to offer yourself and/or your team practical, self‑paced professional development that strengthens communication, teamwork, and day‑to‑day performance. It’s a ready‑to‑use, off-the-shelf training option for managers, emerging leaders, and frontline staff to help them grow in a rapidly changing workplace.

In a recent survey by Indeed, 40% of employers cited communication challenges as the biggest problem facing multigenerational workplaces. Essential Communications, a three-hour, on-demand course, covers practical communication skills that strengthen clarity, trust, and reliability at work. From professional communication to active listening to providing productive feedback, each section focuses on small, intentional habits that shape how employees work with each other. The course features tangible takeaways that can be immediately implemented on the job.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The initiative is powered by Pravi, a strategy and learning firm whose Humans Still Matter™ philosophy helps leaders navigate the intersection of technology, AI, and human judgment. Essential Communications was developed in collaboration with Cornell University Professor Bruce Tracey, a global authority on human capital and performance, ensuring you learn skills grounded in research and real‑world expertise.

The Boston Talent Academy is offered locally through the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and is part of a national program led by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).

  • Is this a national or local program?

Both. The initiative is national and has been designed by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) and its partner, Pravi. It is being offered to employers and individuals in different markets by local chambers. Content is delivered online via ACCE’s learning platform.

  • What kind of training does it include?

Programs focus on effectiveness, team performance, service excellence and organizational capability—practical skills businesses consistently say they need.

  • Who developed the content?

The initiative is powered by Pravi
, a strategy and learning firm that helps organizations grow in the age of AI by strengthening leadership, judgment and partnerships. Guided by its Humans Still Matter™ philosophy, Pravi helps leaders navigate the intersection of technology and human judgment. The Essential Communications course has been created in collaboration with Cornell University Nolan Hotel School of Hotel Administration Professor Bruce Tracey, one of the world’s authorities on human capital and performance.

  • How does this program align with the Chamber mission?

Developing stronger leaders and more capable organizations directly supports economic growth, business success, and community vitality.
