On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting brought together 1,400+ civic, business, and non-profit leaders for the most anticipated celebration of commerce in New England. The evening’s attendees gathered as we inducted the latest honorees into the Academy of Distinguished Bostonians and a prominent keynote speaker discussed this year’s theme of Accelerating Growth.
James E. Rooney Rooney, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, welcomed those in attendance and sparked inspiration around this year’s theme by stating that “the challenges in front of us are hard. Accelerating Growth requires action from all of us. We must choose to seize opportunities and advocate for public policies that drive business success, create jobs and allow all our residents to pursue their dreams – despite any headwinds.”
The 2025 Distinguished Bostonians, Anne Klibanski, MD of Mass General Brigham, Dr. Michael Curry, Esq. of Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, and Jane Steinmetz of EY, are proven leaders in cutting-edge healthcare and medical research, civil rights advocacy, community building, and more. This prestigious award recognizes them for their incredible impact and the work they do to make Massachusetts the best place for all businesses and all people to thrive.
President & Chief Executive Officer, Mass General Brigham
“[Anne is] an example of servant leadership. It’s never about [her], it’s about what we’re doing together and about the people that we’re serving. You want to do a great job because you believe in the work, you believe in the vision, but you also really believe in Anne.” – Marcela Del Carmen, MD, MPH, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, and Mass General Brigham
Appointed to her role in 2019, Anne’s vision is to build the integrated academic healthcare system of the future with patients at the center by transforming care, improving outcomes, and expanding impact locally, nationally, and globally. Anne is responsible for the development of new technologies that improve both patient and clinician experiences, has overseen increased investment in leading-edge research that has the potential to revolutionize treatments, and has committed significant resources to community health, with a particular investment in mental health programs.
Together, we recognize Anne as a 2025 Distinguished Bostonian for the incredible impact her work and leadership have had across the Commonwealth and beyond.

The 2025 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker, Suzanne Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spoke to this year’s theme of what it means to be Accelerating Growth in Boston and beyond.
During a fireside chat, Chamber President & CEO Jim Rooney asked Suzanne about the role of business leaders, noting that a recent Weber Shandwick report declared that “Business is the new stabilizer in a divided nation,” and 80% of Americans are looking to business leaders to take action and address challenges. Suzanne described the many ways business leaders are crucial to our collective success locally and nationally, and she shared a call to action that business leaders should use their trusted voice to advocate for impactful public policies.
Suzanne emphasized that “businesses are the engines of economic growth for their communities. And we want every place… to achieve its full potential.” She also reinforced that “we have to continue to make life better for individuals, for families, for communities… Together, we can confront challenges, we can seize opportunities, and we can build a brighter future.”
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who made the 2025 Annual Meeting a success including our 1,400+ attendees, our Host Committee Co-Chairs Sarah Iselin of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Joseph Albanese of Commodore Builders, and our sponsors!
