Celebrating Women’s History Month

Spotlight on Women-Owned Businesses
in Greater Boston

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions of women throughout history and celebrate the achievements of women today. At the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, we are proud to support and highlight the women-owned businesses that are making a significant impact in our community. These businesses not only drive economic growth but also inspire future generations of women entrepreneurs. 

Women-Owned Boston Businesses

Zipcar

Zipcar, a leading car-sharing company, was co-founded by Robin Chase and Antje Danielson. Based in Boston, Zipcar provides a convenient and sustainable transportation option for city dwellers. The co-founders’ vision for a more efficient and eco-friendly urban transportation system has revolutionized the way people think about car ownership and usage. This year, Zipcar is celebrating 25 years of enabling simple and responsible urban living. 

The Little Cocoa Bean Co.

Tracy Skelly’s The Little Cocoa Bean Co. is a unique business that focuses on providing nutritious and delicious food options for young children. Located in Roslindale, MA, The Little Cocoa Bean Co. offers a range of products and services, including a Tot Cafe where families can enjoy healthy meals together. Tracy’s passion for children’s health and wellness is truly inspiring.

Thomas & Associates

Thomas & Associates, led by Carole Copeland Thomas, is a consulting firm based in Lakeville, MA. The firm specializes in providing strategic planning, organizational development, and leadership training services to businesses and nonprofits. Carole’s expertise and commitment to helping organizations achieve their goals make C. Thomas & Associates a valuable resource for our business community.

Bon Me

Bon Me, co-founded by Ali Fong, brings delicious and healthy Asian-inspired cuisine to the Boston area. With multiple food trucks and restaurant locations (including a stall in Boston Public Market), Bon Me has become a beloved staple in the community. Ali’s innovative approach to food and commitment to sustainability make Bon Me a standout example of women-led success in the culinary world. 

HATCH The Agency

HATCH The Agency, founded by Jennifer Harrington (a past Pinnacle Awards honoree), is a women-led full-service marketing and advertising agency based in Cambridge, MA. The agency offers a wide range of services, including branding, digital marketing, and public relations. Their innovative approach and commitment to helping businesses thrive in a competitive market highlight the importance of women in leadership roles. 

Soluna Garden Farm

Soluna Garden Farm, co-founded by Amy Hirschfeld and Tatiana Brainerd, is a specialty cut flower and herb farm in Winchester, MA. They run a seasonal cut-flower CSA and practice small-scale agriculture to improve human health, local economies, and the environment. Amy and Tatiana’s dedication to sustainable farming practices and their commitment to providing high-quality, locally-sourced products make Soluna Garden Farm a valuable asset to the community. 

Visit their stall in the Boston Public Market to find beautiful fresh cut flowers, unique houseplants, and plant accessories throughout the year. 

Boston Public Speaking

Boston Public Speaking, founded and led by Amanda Hennessy, provides public speaking coaching and training to individuals and organizations. Located in Somerville, MA, the company helps clients build confidence and improve their communication skills. Amanda’s dedication to empowering others through effective communication is a testament to the impact women can have in the business world. 

Tomo360

Tomo360, a digital marketing agency based in Lowell, MA, is led by Susu Wong. With a focus on helping small businesses and nonprofits grow their online presence, Tomo360 offers a range of services including website design, social media marketing, and SEO. Susu’s dedication to empowering other businesses through effective marketing strategies exemplifies the spirit of Women’s History Month. 

McDermott Ventures

McDermott Ventures, founded by Pamela McDermott and led by an all-women leadership team, is a strategic communications and public affairs firm based in Boston. For over 30 years, they have specialized in the real estate, renewable energy, and life sciences sectors across New England. They provide comprehensive communications services to support development projects and launch new initiatives. Their expertise and dedication have made them a trusted partner in transforming Massachusetts and New England into epicenters of life sciences and clean energy.
