Joint Statement of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Massachusetts Business Roundtable on Policy Separating Immigrant Children from their Parents
Last year, when President Trump instituted a policy that would ban certain people from traveling to the United States, the business community spoke up in opposition, citing the importance of immigrants to our communities, our workforce, our companies, and the diverse ecosystem that makes Massachusetts the most innovative state in the nation. Today the nation is faced with a policy that is even more abhorrent, separating immigrant children from their parents, and we feel compelled to speak out again. We urge the Administration to immediately end this policy. Any attempt at immigration reform must recognize the valuable contributions that immigrants make to our nation, to the vibrancy of our economy and communities, and must adhere to the basic standards of human decency. This current policy does not and we call for its immediate end.
