Chief Justice Ralph Gants and Paige Scott Reed, Of Counsel at Anderson & Kreiger LLP join us for a one-on-one conversation.
Chief Justice Ralph Gants, the 37th Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, will be joining us for a one-on-one conversation with Paige Scott Reed, Of Counsel at Anderson & Kreiger LLP. Chief Justice Gants will discuss the importance of judicial independence. What is the value, in particular to businesses, to having judges who are not elected and therefore not swayed by popular opinion? As the co-chair to the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission, Chief Justice Gants has prioritized providing leadership, vision and coordination in the search for equal justice for all persons in the Commonwealth.
Ralph D. Gants became the 37th Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court in July 2014 when he was sworn in by Governor Deval Patrick. He was appointed as an Associate Justice on the Court in January 2009. Before joining the SJC, he served for more than eleven years as an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court, and was Administrative Justice of the Superior Court’s Business Litigation Session in 2008.
