Overview

The National Association of Colleges and Employers conducted a study where 97.5% of the employers’ respondents agreed that professionalism/work ethic is the main essential competency to workplace success when hiring a college graduate. Want to learn what critical skills employers look for in employees? Thank you for joining us for F.U.N. Lives On Bingo: Adulting & Networking event. The bingo categories included formal skill building, career planning, emphasis on building your network, and the importance of mental health and self-care.

Attendees had the opportunity to connect with an HR professional in a 12-minute conversation where they had an opportunity to seek advice on anything related to the HR process.

Winners chose prizes ranging from gift cards to resume reviews.

F.U.N. Lives On series is an extension of our annual Fierce Urgency of Now Festival. Fierce Urgency of Now is a week-long decentralized festival dedicated to convening Boston’s diverse young professionals together with business leaders, organizations, and their peers to build connections, advance careers, and ignite positive change. Loreen Watts is the Senior Manager of HR & Operations at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Working closely with the Chief of Staff, she not only oversees the day-to-day operations of the office, but she also manages the HR function, inclusive of, but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance management, and more. Her role focuses on people. Before managing HR and Operations, Loreen also worked as a Program Manager for the Chamber, managing all venue contracts and relationships as well as the Chamber’s internal event space. Prior to working for the Chamber, Loreen worked for Boston 2024 Partnership, Inc., the organization responsible for submitting Boston’s bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. There she worked as an Executive Assistant and Office Manager. At the core of each position Loreen has held, is relationship building, organization, and creating an environment and culture that fosters passion, creativity, productivity, and success. Loreen has completed The Partnership’s early career Associates Leadership Program, their mid-level career Fellow’s Leadership Program, the Chamber’s Women’s Leadership Program, and is currently enrolled in their Transformation DEI Certificate Program.     Sign in at the registration table, grab a bite to eat, and network with fellow attendees. Young professionals will also have the opportunity to connect with an HR professional in a 12-minute conversation where they can seek advice on anything related to the HR process. This portion of the event will be on a first come first serve basis.

  • 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm | It’s Bingo Time

    Let’s get ready to BINGOOOO! Enjoy a friendly bingo competition with peers eager to strengthen their professional skills and network. Winners can choose from the following prizes: Amex gift cards, one ticket to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs program, and a resume review with Laura Reiman, Director of Workforce Development Strategy at the Chamber.

  • 6:45 pm – 7:00 pm | Stay & Mingle

    You don’t have to go home, nor do you have to leave at 7 pm. Continue to mingle with your peers and play a round of shuffleboard!

    That is a great question! F.U.N. Lives On is a program series offered by City Awake, the premier young professionals network of the Greater Boston Chamber of Boston. This event is geared towards the following people:

    1. Individuals navigating early stages of their career (less than 3 years of work experience) and looking to expand their networks
    2. College students or individuals enrolled in workforce development programs interested in developing their professional skills
    3. Interns working at member and non-member companies

  • What should I bring?

    Bring your A game! If you can, feel free to bring a friend.

  • How do I get there?

    There are a couple of ways you can get to PKL Boston. You can drive or take a Lyft to the location. However, street parking, while available, is limited.

    If you are taking public transportation, you want to take or transfer to the Red Line and get off Broadway Station. PKL Boston is about a 10-minute walk from the station.

  • Do I have to be a member of the Chamber to attend this event?

    Not at all! City Awake is open to young professionals in the Greater Boston area.
