Women’s Money Matters mission is to empower women to improve their financial health to create a more secure future for their families and communities. We serve women and girls over the age of 10 who are living on low incomes, many in transitional housing.
We are committed to empowering women, providing them tools to pursue greater economic stability, increased educational opportunities, sustained employment, and better housing security. Our vision is a world where all women can live a financially healthy life.
Women’s Money Matters reach has grown tremendously reaching 1800 women through our programming and surpassed 200 programs. Every graduate success story has a deep impact on the organization and we are lucky to maintain close connections with the women in our programs.
One of our graduates, residing in a shelter after escaping an abusive relationship, shared the ways our program impacted her life stating “My credit score had increased, I improved my CFPB Financial wellness score from 40 to 51, and saved money for the first time. I have learned a lot throughout this program. I have a better understanding of how to manage money and now have savings for emergencies.”
Following her graduation she secured a new well-paying job and moved into her own apartment. Her journey reflects her unwavering resilience and the profound impact of our program on empowering women to achieve financial independence.
Women’s Money Matters has deep ties in Greater Boston and serves all of Massachusetts and beyond. Participants come to us through our various partnerships such as with social service agencies, housing authorities, other nonprofit organizations and corporations across Massachusetts.
Additionally, the community plays a huge role in our organization’s success as we have had 346 volunteers this year alone. These volunteers work one on one with the women and girls in our programs to help them on their path to financial stability.
Women’s Money Matters has a unique program model that combines 1:1 coaching, virtual programming, and women specific group based support to give our participants a truly one of a kind effective experience. We prioritize community and empowerment for the women and girls in our program and tailor our approach to each individual’s needs.
Our methods have proven effective, for example our participants, on average, see increases of 42 in their credit scores, 152% increase in their savings, and a 63% increase in participants that felt confident managing their finances as a result of program participation.
