Why Toronto?

Known to be one of the most multicultural and vibrant cities in the world, Toronto is home to nearly 200 ethnic groups and 140 spoken languages, contributing to the thriving arts, film and tv, and restaurant scene that keeps Toronto competitive with world-class talent and well-known festivals around the globe. We will experience and learn from Toronto’s unique approach to strengthening community through integration of economic growth, innovation, sustainability practices, workforce development, health and culture.

  • As shared by McKinsey & Company: Toronto is an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and the tech industry, noting that Toronto has seen a 40% jump in tech workers over the last five years and is one of the most highly educated and diverse labor forces. Given the growth of tech industries, McKinsey recently announced Toronto as one of their 16 global hubs focusing on accelerating technology advancements, more specifically, Artificial Intelligence.
  • Forbes’ 2022 list of best international cities applauded Toronto for its infrastructure, education, access to culture, sports and green space. Toronto was also recognized in 2023 as one of the best cities for students.
  • Like Boston, Toronto is home to world-class universities and institutions that drive research and innovation and source high-level talent into the city’s booming ecosystem. Toronto has also excelled in activating its greenspace and waterfront as well as use and reuse of historic centers.
  • Increasing populations, and an anticipation of having 8 million residents in the Greater Toronto area, also brings a demand for innovative infrastructure and sustainability projects to the city of Toronto. Some projects include: new rapid transit lines for easier accessibility to more neighborhoods, residential housing, park land, institutional buildings, tech centers and hospitals, and the goal of being net-zero for greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
