In private client efforts, trust is everything—and women leaders help redefine how that trust is built, nurtured, and sustained on a daily basis. Families seek advisors who can help them navigate significant financial decisions, preserve legacies, and plan for future generations. Increasingly, women leaders are helping reimagine how that trust is established and sustained, bringing a collaborative, relationship-driven approach that is shaping the future of the profession.
As women professionals, we understand the dual pressures of work and family commitments. We know that cultivating a healthy equilibrium between work commitments, family life, and personal responsibilities is both a science and an art. Finding the space, time, and energy to juggle work obligations along with personal life requires careful planning, time management, and intentionality, along with a mindset of flexibility, presence, and resilience.
Like many professional women, I understand the challenge of balancing career aspirations with family and personal responsibilities. In being challenged in this way, I have actually grown professionally and personally. It has helped me create cultures of empathy, collaboration, and long-term relationship management.
For those of us in financial services, and private client or public accounting more specifically, our work requires that we balance client engagements, relationship management, and business development, while developing and retaining talent at our firms.
As women, our ability to build relationships with both clients and colleagues is a strength that we bring to the table—one that impacts the future of our industry in Boston and beyond. The future of private client will be shaped by leaders who can build trust, foster meaningful relationships, and develop the next generation of talent. Women are increasingly helping lead that transformation.
By investing in mentorship, advocating for greater representation, and building strong professional networks, we can continue creating pathways for future leaders while delivering exceptional service to our clients and communities.
While the representation of women in accounting, wealth management, and private client continues to grow, there remains significant opportunity to increase female leadership across the industry. Organizations that prioritize developing and retaining women leaders are not only strengthening their talent pipeline but also driving better outcomes for clients and their businesses.
I know firsthand the value of mentorship—I have been fortunate to have had a close mentor throughout my career who I could consult with frequently, and who would offer great advice. This was pivotal to my career progression as well as how I have shown up as a mentor to others. The mentorship I received past, present, and future has made me realize that the value of mentorship is immeasurable.
Forvis Mazars is committed to the representation of women leaders at the national, regional, and market levels, and supports our development through initiatives such as the employee-led Women Forward Network. In addition, the Protégé Program, a leadership initiative designed to help high-performing directors, regardless of gender, prepare for partner-level roles, has been a meaningful program to help us advance inclusion and belonging through focused development, expanded visibility, and formal sponsorship outside of their immediate office or network. It is a testament to the firm’s commitment to fostering talent in our partner ranks and building remarkable careers.
I personally have benefitted from strong working relationships with other women leaders at the firm who have been a part of growing Forvis Mazars Private Client. I see the robust female representation in leadership within Forvis Mazars Private Client as something that creates an advantage for us as a firm and inspires current and future leaders.
My strongest mentors within the firm have been women, and over the last two years, I have been fortunate to learn from and be supported by the female regional Private Client sector leaders at Forvis Mazars. Their mentorship, encouragement, and generosity with their time have played a significant role in helping me grow as the Boston Market Sector Leader and further develop Forvis Mazars Private Client within the Boston market. The mentorship relationships that I’ve built at Forvis Mazars have far surpassed what I could have ever expected. I am proud to be a part of a firm that supports women leaders in their career journeys.
All professionals need mentors, but the female mentor/mentee relationship is what empowers us all to move our respective fields forward in ways that create true and lasting impact. Fostering these relationships helps build confidence, open doors, and demonstrates what leadership looks like in practice. When we invest in one another, we strengthen not only individual careers but also the future of our profession.
In my experience within the industry, I see a shift occurring for a while now where more women are entering into and holding space in the finance fields, whether it’s accounting, wealth management, or as trust and estate attorneys. In addition to possessing technical expertise, women have a unique ability to develop and cultivate relationships—this is essential for building connections with clients, colleagues, and industry peers. Professional networks, like the Women’s Network, provide the perfect venue to put this into practice and create opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and leadership.
The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Network brings together more than 3,000 leaders from different industries and backgrounds, and shares the commitment of its members to grow and develop women leaders. It’s a supportive culture that creates opportunities that extend beyond traditional business development. It fosters authentic relationships, mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and leadership visibility, including the annual Pinnacle Awards honoring women leaders across different sectors, which is really empowering to witness.
Our work is built on trust and long-term relationships, so participation in organizations like the Chamber’s Women’s Network helps advisors connect with individuals who may become potential community partners, referral sources, future leaders, or prospective clients in the Boston market. This is why I have been so grateful for our firm’s relationship with the Chamber, the Women’s Network, and its members.
Similar to the values of the Chamber’s Women’s Network, the team at Forvis Mazars Private Client is committed to helping you prepare for what’s next. Thanks to our firm’s investments in mentorship, representation, and strong professional networks, our leaders are better equipped to assist and support those we serve. While the future path of private client services is vast, we are here to accompany you on your journey toward achieving your financial goals, dreams, and aspirations, no matter where they may lead.
