BOSTON, MA—
The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce announced that President and CEO, James E. Rooney, has been elected and appointed to the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, effective June 4, 2026.
This prestigious appointment recognizes Rooney’s leadership in advancing a vibrant, competitive business environment in Greater Boston and across Massachusetts, as well as his longstanding commitment to championing pro-growth economic policies that strengthen the region’s communities and businesses.
“As the leading voice for businesses across the country, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce plays a critical role in shaping policies that drive innovation, competitiveness, and growth,” said James E. Rooney. “I am honored to join the Board of Directors and to continue representing our region’s dynamic business community at the national level. This is an opportunity to elevate Greater Boston’s voice in conversations that will define the future of our economy and our country’s competitiveness. I look forward to working with leaders across the country to ensure that small businesses, corporations, and our workforce are successful.”
“Since serving on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Committee of 100, Jim has become a trusted advisor, helping to drive the Chamber’s long-term strategic goals,” said Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “He is recognized as a visionary and influential business leader with a commitment to advancing local economic growth and sharpening our competitive edge. Jim will bring his transformative leadership and passion for free enterprise to help the U.S. Chamber uplift pro-business policies.”
“Engaging with local chambers has been a highlight of my experience as chair at the U.S. Chamber. The leaders of these groups are valued, trusted sources of insight, and Jim is a standout among them. He leads one of the foremost business advocacy groups in Massachusetts and brings an important perspective, combining regional knowledge and practical expertise honed over years of public service,” said Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of the Perot Companies and Hillwood and Board Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “I look forward to the contributions he will make as a board leader, and to working with him to achieve a shared vision for growth and opportunity for our country.”
