Chamber Statement from James E. Rooney
Ballot Question 2 Outcome
“The Chamber is disappointed in the result of Question 2, which eliminates the only statewide education standard in the Commonwealth for high school graduation. Our successful public K-12 education system led the nation for decades and removing the MCAS requirement – without a replacement – will hold children back from success in their lives and careers. As a next step, the Chamber will begin discussions with stakeholders about new 21st century statewide graduation requirements that prioritize every child and their education in a meaningful way, regardless of which school district they attend,” said James E. Rooney, President and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
