The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce submitted testimony in support of H.2884, An Act providing tax credits to certain employers that provide affordable, on-site child-care for employees, because on-site child care is appealing for parents and helps businesses attract and retain talent.
<span class=NormalTextRun SCXW185784648 BCX0 <this= bill= aligns= the= state= with= a= federal= tax= credit= and= will= further= encourage= use= of= on-site The bill aligns the state with federal tax credit and will further encourage the use of on-site child care, improving access to more affordable care. The proposal creates a state level employer tax credit equal to 25 percent of qualified childcare expenditures, with a maximum credit of $150,000 per year, for employers providing on-site childcare services.
On-site child care represents a win-win for employers and employees. For employers, on-site child care can retain employees and help reduce turnover. According to the U.S. Chamber Foundation, when companies provide child care services, employee absenteeism reduced by 30% and job turnover can decline by 60%.[1] Incentivizing on-site services can make it easier for employers to invest in these services. Employees benefit from the reliability that an onsite care facility provides and one national employer with on-site child care reports that it has had a positive impact on culture.
