Shriver Job Corps is one of the 3 US Department of Labor Job Corps centers in Massachusetts. Job Corps provides free vocational training to eligible youth ages 16-24. Job Corps offers residential and commuter options, academic programs, driver training, and more.
Shriver Job Corps offers a very popular UBC Carpentry Pre-Apprentice training program. One of the instructors is himself a graduate of the Grafton Job Corps Center. After years working in the industry, he decided to dedicate himself to training the next generation of Carpenters.
Job Corps connects our graduates to employers in the region who can offer great career opportunities. Shriver Job Corps is responsible for conducting outreach to stakeholders throughout Suffolk, Essex, and Middlesex counties and provides admissions services in these areas. We are always seeking new employer partnerships and opportunities for our students to participate in work-based learning/internships ahead of graduation.
There are many free vocational training programs out there these days. However, Job Corps is far more than just vocational training. Job Corps offers wrap-around services at no cost to students including housing, meals, basic medical care, drivers training, High School Diploma/HiSET/GED training, and support for one year after graduation!
The Greater Boston community is home to many young adults who may not realize they are eligible for Job Corps. Connecting with the many social services agencies in Greater Boston will introduce more eligible applicants to JC.
The costs of housing are out of reach for many young adults in entry level positions. Job Corps offers students free housing on campus while enrolled.
Job Corps graduates often return to their home areas to work after graduation for work, and can also participate in work-based learning, offering the potential for students to intern or work permanently for employers in Greater Boston.
Shriver Job Corps is a member of other regional Chambers and knows the benefits that membership can provide. Developing and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with employers is key for our students success. We are excited to become active members of the Greater Boston Chamber.
