The Power to Transform: Women Driving Innovation in Health and Leadership

Join us on June 16 for a dynamic conversation with Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, CEO of AARP and one of the nation’s leading voices at the intersection of women’s leadership, innovation, and the future of health and aging. As the head of the world’s largest nonprofit membership organization, Dr. Minter-Jordan leads nearly 2,300 staff, 60,000 volunteers, and a vast network of partners united around empowering people to live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

A physician, strategist, and visionary leader, Dr. Minter-Jordan has built her career on transforming the systems that shape how we live, work, care, and age. From her early days in academic medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine to her groundbreaking leadership at the Dimock Center and later the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, she has consistently championed community-centered innovation, equitable access to care, and the vital role women play in shaping healthier communities and stronger institutions. Today, she is leading a national conversation around longevity, caregiving, prevention, and whole-person health, while challenging organizations to rethink what it means to support people across their lives.

This unique opportunity will offer attendees an insider’s look at:
  • Women as architects of innovation – how women leaders are reshaping health systems, technology, and philanthropy
  • Women’s health and aging – why women must be at the center of designing the future of longevity, caregiving, and whole person health
  • Equity as a catalyst for innovation – how inclusive leadership unlocks better outcomes for communities and organizations
  • The power of mentorship and giving back – Dr. Minter-Jordan’s lifelong commitment to lifting emerging women leaders
This event, moderated by Joseph F. Coughlin, PhD, Founding Director of the MIT AgeLab, offers a chance to learn, engage, and be energized by a leader who embodies what it means to champion women’s voices, women’s health, and women’s advancement at every stage of life. Through Dr. Minter-Jordan’s perspective and experience, attendees will explore why innovation in health, longevity, and aging is not just about new ideas; but about who gets to shape them, and how women are leading that transformation.

As CEO of AARP, Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan leads the world’s largest non-profit, nonpartisan membership organization, harnessing the power and passion of almost 2,300 staff members, 60,000 volunteers and numerous strategic partners.

Dr. Minter-Jordan, who was named CEO in November 2024, is an accomplished physician, passionate advocate and innovative leader who deftly merges a passion for social impact with the business acumen to make strategic decisions, foster meaningful collaboration across engaged teams and successfully lead organizations through periods of rapid change and growth.

Throughout her career, she has fought to shine a national spotlight on the importance of social equity and the far-reaching impact of philanthropy and giving back. After a successful early career in academic medicine at Johns Hopkins, where she was an attending physician and instructor, she was inspired to serve as Chief Medical Officer, and ultimately President and CEO of the Dimock Center, one of the largest community health centers in Massachusetts. During her tenure, from 2007 until 2019, Dimock was recognized as a national model for comprehensive, integrated health and human services. As CEO, she fiercely advocated to increase access to care for some of Boston’s most vulnerable residents, forming partnerships with world-class institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Partners HealthCare, to advance person-centered care.

Dr. Minter-Jordan’s journey to transform the healthcare industry continued at the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health in Charlestown, MA, where she served as President and CEO from 2020 until 2024. While there, she led a team of professional and clinical experts committed to building a future where every person can reach their full potential through excellent health. With her vision and leadership, and a strategy grounded in innovation and philanthropy, the Institute successfully launched bold ideas and solutions to create a more accessible, equitable and integrated health system.

Dr. Minter-Jordan has consistently prioritized giving back through her service on a wide range of boards and commissions, including BlueShield of California, Yawkey Foundation, Point 32 Health and The Boston Foundation. A dedicated mentor to emerging healthcare leaders, she has received numerous awards for her contributions, including Harvard Medical School’s Reede Scholar Vision Award and the Terrance Keenen Leadership Award in Health Philanthropy from Grant Makers in Health. She is also affiliated with many local and national civic organizations, including The Links, Inc., and Jack and Jill, Inc.

Dr. Minter-Jordan is a graduate of Brown University and earned her MD from the Brown University School of Medicine and her MBA from the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins University. She holds an Honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from Northeastern University and an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Newbury College.
