With the uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, this past year was relentless in its challenges.

Vivienne Long leads REI’s national and local marketing, channel planning and execution, communications, and member loyalty and customer relationship programs. As VP of Marketing, Vivienne drives brand awareness, customer preference, traffic and demand that fuels the REI brand and business. She leads a marketing team that develops strategic roadmaps for best-in-class marketing execution across REI’s evolving suite of offerings and services; she is building centers of excellence for each marketing discipline and driving innovation in the marketing mix and model. Prior to REI, Long spent a decade at Starbucks where she held multiple VP positions. Earlier in her career, she spent time at Clorox and Procter & Gamble in marketing and brand roles, and in product management at Microsoft. Vivienne serves as an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Advisor at the Foster Business School of the University of Washington. She holds an MBA from the WHARTON SCHOOL, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA and a Bachelor of Arts degree from STANFORD UNIVERSITY, Palo Alto, CA.

Beth Johnson is Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Named to this role on Jan. 27, 2020, Johnson leads an organization focused on improving the customer experience by advancing the bank’s overall capabilities in customer analytics and digital. Specific areas of responsibility include digital experience design, enterprise customer analytics, customer experience, organizational transformation, brand and advertising, communications, and payment strategy. Johnson previously served as chief marketing officer and head of virtual channels, responsible for corporate-wide marketing activities and for advancing Consumer Banking growth and profitability by leading and aligning the businesses’ strategy, brand, customer experience and data analytics efforts. She joined Citizens in October 2013 as head of Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining Citizens in 2013, Johnson was a senior leader at Bain and Company. She served as a partner and leader of its customer strategy and marketing practice, specializing in financial services. She regularly co-authored Bain’s annual Customer Loyalty in Banking study. Johnson also held roles at J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs, where she focused on fixed income and derivatives products for commercial banking clients as well as risk management. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Sherrill Kaplan is a Chief Marketing Officer with a proven track record of generating consumer demand and leading digital transformation. She has a unique background spanning marketing strategy, digital marketing, advertising, innovation, e-commerce, branding, new product development, customer loyalty and CRM. She is a passionate team leader and talent developer, skilled in change management.   Sherrill is currently a Marketing Operations Advisor for Advent International, a global Private Equity firm.  At Advent, Sherrill advises the firm on investments and marketing strategy for Advent’s portfolio companies.  Prior to Advent, Sherrill was the Head of Marketing and Sales for Zipcar, the world’s leading car-sharing network and a subsidiary of Avis Budget Group.  At Zipcar she led a contemporary brand refresh and launched several new product extensions including Zipcar for Business and an innovative car subscription offering.  Before Zipcar, Sherrill was Vice President of Digital Marketing & Innovation at Dunkin’ Brands.  In this role, she led Dunkin’s digital transformation – she designed and managed the Dunkin’ mobile app, the DD Perks loyalty program, DD mobile ordering, and delivery and catering platforms.    Before joining Dunkin’, Sherrill was the Director of Client Services at Cartera Commerce, a loyalty service company focused on card-linked offers.  Prior to that, she was the Director of Product Marketing at Circles and the Director of Membership Rewards at American Express.  Sherrill got her start in marketing at Citi.  Since 2018, Sherrill has served as an independent board director of Fiesta Restaurant Group (NASDAQ:FRGI).  Sherrill was previously a member of the American Express Consumer Advisory Board and the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) Board.  She holds an MBA from the Daniels College of Business-University of Denver, and a BS in Special Education from Boston University.  She lives outside Boston with her husband and three daughters.
