With over 20 years of experience in the financial service industry, Juan Carlos (JC) Morales has a track record of overseeing trillion-dollar asset management deals, securing large-scale acquisitions, and leading global finance teams. Throughout his career, JC has worked at Fortune 500 financial companies, where he has become instrumental in creating transformative initiatives that led to the economic growth and profitability agenda of those firms.

In 2015, JC founded Surfside Capital Advisors LLC (SCA), a Boston-based strategy and financial advisory firm that helps businesses reach their full potential by designing and executing high-conviction growth and turnaround strategies. With a passion for supporting the Latino community, JC co-founded the Boston chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America and The Latino Equity Fund at The Boston Foundation and supports community-based organizations working to advance the socio-economic status of Latinos in Greater Boston.

He also serves as one of Governor Healey’s newly created Latino Empowerment Council members. JC has received numerous awards and recognitions. The Boston Business Journal recently named him to the Power 50: The Movement Makers list in 2023.

Juan Carlos (JC) Morales is the Founder and CEO of Surfside Capital Advisors, a Boston-based strategy and financial advisory firm that helps businesses reach their full potential by designing and executing high-conviction growth and turnaround strategies. Surfside Capital combines disciplined business planning with transformation initiatives such as capital raising, buy/sell transactions and business restructuring to maximize growth and profitability.

He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers after graduating cum laude from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. JC spent a decade working as a financial services executive at Fortune 500 companies with a combined $4 trillion in assets under management. He served as the CEO of BNY Mellon Mexico and the CFO at TIAA Asset Management and State Street Global Advisors, where he led global teams through numerous capital and profitability initiatives.

He is a board member of the Alliance for Business Leadership, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Mass General Brigham Corp. In 2016, former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker appointed him to serve on the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Development Corporation, the state’s primary economic development agency, where he continues to serve under Governor Maura Healey. He was also commissioner of Governor Baker’s Latino Advisory Commission and is a member of Governor Healey’s newly created Latino Empowerment Council. He co-founded the Boston chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America and The Latino Equity Fund at The Boston Foundation, which has raised more than $8 million since 2013.

In 2023, the Boston Business Journal named him to the Power 50: The Movement Makers list. In 2009, the journal recognized him as the CFO of the Year in the public company category.

He lives in Beacon Hill with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children.

    There is limited street parking available. The area has several parking garages, with the closest location at the South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center on 503 Congress St, Boston, MA 02210.

  • Is it accessible by public transportation?

    Yes, Rosa Mexicano is accessible by public transportation. The closest train station to the restaurant is South Station. You can take any silver line bus from South Station to the World Trade Center bus stop and walk for about 3 minutes.

  • What should I wear?

    We recommend dressing in business casual.

  • What should I bring?

    Bring your virtual or print business cards and a friend!

  • COVID Policy

    The Department of Health and Human Services lifted the Presidential Declaration of a National Public Health Emergency arising from the COVID-19 pandemic on May 11, 2023. Therefore, COVID-19 will no longer be considered a national health emergency. The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor trends and act accordingly based on Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance.
