Brian Worrell is the Boston City Councilor for District 4, which includes Mattapan, Dorchester, and parts of Jamaica Plain and Roslindale. A native Bostonian, Brian was raised by parents who migrated to the United States from Jamaica and Barbados in search of the American dream. As Vice President of the Council and Chair of the Ways & Means Committee, Councilor Worrell has successfully advocated for additional investments in housing, small business, quality of life, college and career readiness, and community safety. His home-rule petition, which began in 2023, to add 225 liquor licenses to underserved communities in Boston is the largest expansion in the liquor license system in decades.

Representative Christopher J. Worrell serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 5th Suffolk District, including parts of Dorchester and Roxbury. Born in Dorchester to Jamaican and Barbadian immigrant parents, Worrell was instilled with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the importance of self-reliance from an early age. He has devoted his time in the legislature to advocating for a wide range of issues, including housing accessibility and affordability, economic development through enhanced access to licensing and grants, and regional transportation improvements in his district. Rep. Worrell is committed to promoting equitable development in his rapidly growing district. Rep. Worrell understands the critical role transit plays in business development, as it enhances accessibility, reduces costs, and promotes sustainability. Recognizing these benefits, Rep. Worrell was instrumental in advocating for the electrification of the Fairmont Line, ensuring more accessible and reliable transportation for his rapidly growing district. Additionally, Representative Worrell championed the 2024 Liquor License bill, recently passed by the Massachusetts legislature, that will infuse 225 new liquor licenses into the market, with 195 non-transferable licenses going to zip codes that lack restaurants and entertainment spaces. This bill will create hundreds of opportunities for Black and Brown entrepreneurs to start a profitable restaurant, equipped with a liquor license. Christopher and his wife, Suzette, are raising their three children, Carter, and Savannah, and Simone in Dorchester’s Grove Hall section. His pursuit of increasing economic development and generational wealth for his constituents are what drives him every day.
