WEBER SHANDWICK’S MICHO SPRING VOTED IN AS NEXT BOARD CHAIR FOR THE GREATER BOSTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Boston, MA – Micho F. Spring, Chair of Weber Shandwick’s Global Corporate Practice and New England President, has been named the incoming chair of the Board of Directors for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, the leading business association for the greater Boston region. Micho, the recipient of the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Pinnacle Award in 2000, previously served as vice chair for the Chamber’s Executive Committee for the past two years, and as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors for over 17 years. She commences her two-year term on July 1, 2020.

Micho takes over for outgoing board chair and partner at Boston law firm Nutter, Paul J. Ayoub. “Paul’s tenure as chair will be marked by his passionate commitment to both elevating the voice of the Chamber as an advocate for the economic competitiveness of our region and, for welcoming more women and people of color onto the Chamber Board than ever before in our history,” said Rooney. “As chair, Paul has been very intentional about encouraging the engagement and participation of all Chamber members regardless of gender or race,” said Spring.” His deep commitment to inclusion has made the Chamber’s voice much more meaningful and impactful”.
About Micho F. Spring
At Weber Shandwick, Micho’s practice focuses on enabling corporate clients to use communications to support their business strategies, enhance and protect their reputation, and respond to public policy challenges. Micho brings extensive experience as a senior leader in both the public and private sectors to her work as a communications strategist, including six years as CEO of Boston Telecommunications Company and four years as Deputy Mayor of Boston. She also served as Chief of Staff to Boston Mayor Kevin H. White after four years of service in New York City government.
Micho holds numerous board memberships, including National Bank Holdings Corp (“NBHC”), the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, and the Massachusetts Conference for Women, of which she is Treasurer. Born in Cuba, Micho is also actively involved in efforts to improve US-Cuba relations and is founding chair of Friends of Caritas Cubana, a non-profit providing humanitarian services in Cuba.
