Public Policy
Offering a One-of-a-kind Perspective on the Health Care and Life Sciences Ecosystem
At our table we have providers, insurers, researchers, and pharmaceutical and life science companies. Our health care policy work incorporates all these viewpoints.
At the Chamber, we also look at the health care industry’s role in our region’s economy and employers. Nearly one-in-five workers in Massachusetts are employed directly in the health care sector. Tens of thousands more are indirectly employed in jobs that provide legal, financial, technological, administrative, and other support.
Life-changing and life-saving breakthroughs happen in Boston. We incubate innovations because of our strong health care ecosystem. At the same time, health care costs are a factor for employers when making decisions about hiring and growth.
Any approach to health care policy in Massachusetts must strike a balance. It needs to maintain the world class quality we’re known for, recognize the value the industry adds to our state’s economy and quality of life, and consider how changes can impact employers.
Our world class health care ecosystem creates essential jobs and saves lives. Massachusetts needs to remain the world leader in health care.
The health care industry underpins our regional economy and drives innovations that transform lives and the world.
Health care policy changes must consider both the impacts on employer costs and the economic competitiveness of the region.
Stay on top of the latest policy updates.
