Today we are featuring Marc Fortier, Vice President of Digital for NBC10 Boston and member of the BIMA board. Uncover Marc’s career journey, the impact of becoming a BIMA board member on his professional growth, and his valuable insights.
I spent over a decade as a newspaper reporter and editor, working for publications in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I made the move to online news about 13 years ago, going to work as a Regional Editor in charge of launching a dozen New Hampshire Patch.com/AOL news sites. A decade ago I jumped from there to NECN to become their digital director. In the years since, we added Telemundo to our operation, launched NBC10 Boston and then moved into a new building in Needham alongside NBC Sports Boston.
I’ve only recently joined BIMA, but I’ve been really impressed at the diverse group of digital-minded professionals, and the thought leadership and networking events I’ve been able to attend have helped me learn more about the industry and make new acquaintances.
Always treat your employees with respect and make their goals your goals. I’ve had some eye-opening experiences since the pandemic, and it has made me refocus my efforts not just on the results but also on the people behind those results and how I can help them achieve their career goals.
