Statement of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce on Governor Baker’s COVID-19 Testing Goal
“Yesterday, the Governor set the state’s goal to ramp up diagnostic testing to 45,000 tests per day by July, increasing the state’s current capacity by 50 percent, and to 75,000 per day by December. Combined with plans to expand access sites, this announcement puts the state on track to improving access and potentially allowing for more than four times the current average daily tests.
Employers have pointed to testing and statewide goals like this as crucial factors for a strong economic reopening and we applaud this announcement. While the Chamber and its members still urge the state to set a goal of anyone, anytime for testing, this is a positive and important step forward. We look forward to more information being released in the coming days demonstrating that Massachusetts is leading the way forward.”
