Why Philadelphia?

Philadelphia shares many qualities with Boston, including rich histories, world-class universities, and a commitment to fostering innovation. With a population of over 1.6 million, Philadelphia stands as the second-largest city on the East Coast and the sixth-largest in the nation. The city offers a dynamic juxtaposition of its colonial roots with modern urban revitalization, blending history with progress in a way that is uniquely its own.

Day 1: Philly Revealed

  • Get familiar with the City of Brotherly Love with a curated introduction to its historic charm and rich artistic heritage. A guided tour will offer a thoughtful exploration of Philadelphia’s most iconic cultural landmarks and neighborhoods, providing valuable context and inspiration for the days ahead. The tour will conclude at the renowned Reading Terminal Market, where attendees can enjoy a taste of the city’s diverse culinary offerings—from international cuisine to Pennsylvania Dutch specialties.
  • Take the opportunity to connect with fellow participants during our welcome brunch and evening reception—ideal settings for meaningful networking and conversation!

Day 2: Economic Development, Education, Workforce, and Transportation

  • Throughout the day, sessions will delve into Philadelphia’s evolving landscape—highlighting strategic neighborhood redevelopment, cross-sector partnerships driving educational transformation, and inclusive innovation initiatives that are reshaping the city’s future. From revitalizing downtown corridors to advancing career-connected learning, these discussions will offer valuable insights into how cities can foster growth and opportunity.
  • Like many major cities, Philadelphia is actively addressing challenges around housing, public transit, and regional collaboration—all critical factors in attracting talent and investment on both national and global scales. These conversations will underscore the city’s commitment to upward mobility and equitable development.
  • To close the day, you’ll enjoy a networking dinner where meaningful connections and continued dialogue will round out a full day of thought-provoking programming.

Day 3: Ed’s & Med’s & Developments

  • We’ll start the day in University City for a forward-looking exploration of how Philadelphia’s institutional leaders are responding to shifts in federal research funding across key economic sectors. Through dynamic panel discussions, we’ll examine how public-private partnerships, anchor institutions in education and healthcare, and workforce development leaders are working together to build a more vibrant, equitable, and future-ready city.
  • The conversations will continue as Philadelphia is undergoing a bold transformation through large-scale developments like the Navy Yard and the Bellwether District—projects that are redefining how cities grow equitably and sustainably. While on-site at the Navy yard, we’ll explore how strategic infrastructure upgrades are reshaping the city’s landscape, linking talent to opportunity, and fostering a more accessible and sustainable future.
  •  After three days of rich dialogue and discovery, we’ll gather for a farewell reception—an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the insights and relationships formed throughout the program.
