Giving Tuesday is a global movement where generosity, care, and empathy are encouraged. During the holidays, individuals and organizations alike are inspired to do good by donating to great causes or volunteering time to important social movements and people. Beginning on November 29, you can join the movement and give – each Tuesday and every day moving forward – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community.
To celebrate the season of giving, we have compiled a list of Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce member organizations that have volunteer opportunities. With so many ways to give, we want to help you find the place where your talents and passions can have the biggest impact.
Read to a Child provides caring adults with a flexible, convenient, and meaningful volunteer experience. The Read Aloud Mentoring Program is a simple, structured program that is widely accessible and has considerable impact on the literacy skills and socio-emotional well-being in the students they serve. Join Read to a Child as they merge the magic of the read aloud experience with the power of positive mentoring and unlock the potential in students to be the best they can be in school and beyond.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts is to partner with under-resourced families to provide their children with transformational, one-to-one, professionally-supported relationships with caring adult mentors, so that their children will thrive. All children should have a chance to thrive. Some kids need someone to help them along that path. Turns out doing something important can be incredibly simple. With children across Eastern Massachusetts waiting for a Big, there has never been a better time to volunteer as a mentor. The experience is fun and rewarding, and their professionally trained staff will be there to support you every step of the way.

The Trustees are a diverse community of people who want to protect the places they love and like to be outdoors. Together with neighbors, they preserve the distinct character of our communities and inspire a commitment to special places across the commonwealth. Volunteers are at the heart of The Trustees – communities of individuals, organizations and companies committed to preserving and protecting the places all love to enjoy. Volunteerism has been a cornerstone of The Trustees since 1891 in conserving land for people and continues to play a role in shaping its future.
In an effort to promote volunteering on the harbor, Boston Harbor Now is asking that we help to make Boston Harbor a better place for visitors and wildlife to enjoy by picking up trash along the harbor. You can head out to your favorite beach or explore somewhere new, by yourself or with a group, and record the trash you collect through the Ocean Conservancy’s App or this form. Then dispose of trash properly and share your efforts back with Boston harbor Now and online with #BostonHarborVolunteer!
