On January 16, 2018, Chamber President & CEO Jim Rooney testified before the Joint Committee on Export Development. His testimony highlighted the role that the business community can play in fostering trade relationships by hosting delegations from abroad, the importance of investing in career and technical education to maintain the skills needed to continue the region’s success in advanced manufacturing, and how important the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is to our local economy.
The region's export industry remains a crucial component of Greater Boston's success. The Chamber would like to see Massachusetts work towards trade-related policies that focus on competitiveness and economic growth, including preparing our workforce for the jobs of the future and jobs that support trade; policies that incentivize companies to locate, stay and grow in Massachusetts; and policies that promote our state as a leader in trade.
