Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister is the first President & CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC), a quasi-public organization charged with administering the 10-year, $1 billion Life Sciences Initiative enacted by the Massachusetts Legislature in June 2008. Since assuming this role, she has been responsible for the overall implementation of the Life Sciences Initiative, creating a brand and formulating the investment strategy. Under Dr. Windham-Bannister’s leadership, the MLSC has invested $302 million, leveraging another $1 billion in matching investment capital, and has made investments projected to create thousands of new jobs for the Commonwealth—all in just four years. She previously co-founded Abt BioPharma Solutions, has written numerous articles on competition in today’s health care marketplace, and has co-authored two books: Competitive Strategy for Health Care Organizations and Medicaid and Other Experiments in State Health Policy. Dr. Windham-Bannister’s achievements were recognized by Boston Magazine in 2011, when she was named one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Boston.”
