Initiative for a New Economy:

Working Together for an
Inclusive Business Community

In a first for our region, a coalition of corporations, community organizations, and the City of Boston has collaborated to launch a major new initiative designed to expand the opportunity for minority owned businesses here in Greater Boston.  The Initiative for a New Economy will focus on supplier development - investing strategically in minority business enterprises to enable them to serve as suppliers to major corporations.

The Initiative will be funded for its first three years with $1.3 million from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, The United Way of Massachusetts Bay, The Boston Foundation, the City of Boston, and Liberty Mutual Group.  The Greater Boston Chamber will house the Initiative going forward.
