Wednesday morning brought a room full of Chamber members for the latest Government Affairs Forum, featuring Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and her plans to contain energy costs throughout the state.
After attendees enjoyed an open networking session, Coakley took the stage – outlining the recent accomplishments within her office, and looking towards her current priorities. The latter was headlined by her plans for furthering efforts to stabilize the burden of energy costs on employers, including the creation of an energy summit to be held in the coming months.
Coakley outlined how Massachusetts is the nation’s fifth highest in energy rates, which hinders the economic growth and competition throughout the region. The summit will involve a collaborative effort to identify and develop solutions to decrease of Commonwealth’s overall energy costs. As she stated, it’s an initiative the Chamber and its members will be heavily involved with.
