The Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Awards recognize the achievements of Greater Boston’s smaller for-profit companies, with annual gross revenues of more than $1 million. Winners include businesses who display strong financial performance, achievement in management, workplace excellence, product innovation, and community and social responsibility.

"Small businesses are major contributors to Boston’s economic success, and this year’s Small Business of the Year honorees truly exemplify those important contributions," said James E. Rooney, president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber. "We are thrilled to recognize these remarkable businesses and thank them for all they do to keep Boston thriving."

JP Fuji Group, our top 2016 Small Business of the Year, was formed in 1998 by two 19-year-old best friends, Jimmy Liang and Peter Tse when they opened their first restaurant: Fuji Restaurant in Wollaston. The neighborhood fell in love with this Japanese restaurant, and the success built from there. Today, JP Fuji Group is the largest operating Pan-Asian restaurant group in the northeast with 10 distinct and authentic restaurants in the Boston-metro area. Their motto is "leave a place better than you found it," and the company prides itself on a culture that employs thinkers and empowers believers.

All 10 honorees will be recognized at an October 6 event called, "Nailed It: A Conversation with Successful Business Leaders." The event takes place at District Hall in the South Boston Waterfront from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Representatives from each of the Small Business of the Year winners will participate in power-talk panels where they will discuss topics such as taking risks, overcoming obstacles and growing and innovating in their businesses.
